What I want from Elite specializations is a theme and role that differs from the Core profession but still aligns with the professions' original inspirations. For example: GuardiansGuardians (and technically the entire Paladin archetype) are based on Crusaders, whom basically were religious fanatics.Dragon Hunters are themed after medieval Europe's witch hunts, which were a religious fanatical
So elite specializations bring 4 things to the table: 1- new traits 2- new utilities 3- new profession mechanics 4- new elite specialization weapon In many cases, #4 is the least impactful. So take Necromancer as an example. The Reaper Elite gives you access to Greatsword, but replaces Death Shroud with Reaper Shroud.
Mesmer. New Elite Specialization - Mentalist (Concept) Hello everyone! I came up with a concept for a new mesmer elite spec. It draws ideas from the original idea of a mesmer (a profession which tricks and confuses the opponent), from GW1 skills and I tried to address some issues all mesmer specs are missing as of today.
To begin training a specialization your character must be at least level 21, then follow the below steps. PvP players do not need to unlock anything, as all skills and traits available to the account will be unlocked while within the Heart of the Mists . Step 1: Open your Hero panel and go to the Training tab.
Every hero challenge in the expansion gives you 10 points. I always do a quick run through the HoT maps and get the easy hero Points that just require you to press f on the commune point, that should get you about 100 Hero Points, then I do every PoF hero point because they are all soloable.
It'll allow Mesmer to be able to handle contesting nodes with the loss of Distortion as a defensive (instead blocking for 3s) and having a unique utility to use Distortion instead of built-in. I suspect lots of tuning will be required for it when it comes out due to the RAW damage I saw on that elite skill.

Professions. Ranger. Ranger elite specialization for the 3rd expansion. With the recent announcement of a third expansion I thought it would be fun for us GW2 rangers to speculate/make requests for what we want our next elite specialization to be.In my view this thread is for ranger players, not ranger haters.
